Previewing and rendering
While you are working with the Video effects tool, choosing effects and adjusting parameter settings, the Player gives a dynamically-updated preview of the current frame in your movie. Previewing a single frame may not be very revealing when you are working with effects that evolve over the duration of the clip (like the Water drop effect).
In those cases, you will need to play back the clip to see the full impact of the effect you are applying.
Because many effects require intensive calculation, a fully smooth and detailed preview of the full clip won’t be instantaneously available in most cases. Each time effects are added or removed, or settings are changed, Studio commences “rendering” the clip – recalculating its final appearance – in the background without interrupting your workflow. A colored bar appears in the Timescale above the clip while background rendering is in progress.
Background rendering is optional. You can disable it, if required, in the Project preferences options panel (Setup Ø Project Preferences).
